Founded in 1973, the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) is the elite professional Football Club competition of the United Arab Emirates. The Arabian Gulf League branding represents all 14 clubs that play each other twice each season, operating within a system of promotion and relegation with the First Division League. Al Ain Club has a record 13 league titles followed by Shabab Al Ahli with 10, AL Wasl with 7, and 2018/19 season winners Sharjah with 6 titles.

Formed in 2007, the UAE Pro League gained independence from the UAEFA in 2019 to better serve the needs of its 14 member professional clubs and to elevate the sport to the highest levels. The UAE Pro League operates according to Asian Football Confederation (AFC) regulations and is the rights owner of and responsible for the professional football competitions of UAE.
